Material Handling Solutions You See Every Day

Efficiently moving heavy loads is vital to keep up with the ever-changing demands of consumers. Moving these heavy loads requires motor and wheel solutions that meet your needs. After 200 years in the business, Demag has moved a variety of different loads in the industrial and consumer spaces with its matched wheel and motor systems.  We have pulled some of our most interesting applications to feature.

Transfer Cars

Moving heavy loads from one place to another inside a building requires heavy duty cars. Transfer cars move a variety of loads in industries like casting, foundry, manufacturing and paper. Using transfer cars in these environments is safer and reduces the amount of equipment needed to move what you need to move in industrial environments. Transfer cars typically run on rails, powered with an electric motor.

Retractable Roofs and Large Doors

I remember visiting Toronto in middle school and touring the Blue Jays baseball stadium. They liked to feature the retractable roof and give you all the details about it. Unfortunately, they didn’t demonstrate it opening and closing that day, but moving heavy panels like retractable roofs and large doors or windows in stadiums and other large arenas requires some heavy-duty components. Architectural and engineering firms create a beautiful design then wheel blocks and motors are put to the job to make it move.

Monorail Cars

Popular at amusement parks and travel destinations, monorail cars help transport people where they want to go. Whether the car runs above or below the rail, it still needs a wheel and motor to power it. These cars need to be able to run smoothly and stop precisely.

Overhead & Stacker Cranes

All cranes move, whether they are moved manually when it’s a light load or with a motor for heavy loads. The devices that are powered by motors on an overhead crane is called an end truck, or end carriage. They move the girder, which is where the hoist runs, to the proper lifting location and transports the supported load to another location. Stacker cranes are a bit different. The main purpose of a stacker crane is to pick something heavy off a shelf, for instance a die casting, and it has wheels to transport the item to the needed location.

Conveyor Systems

Conveyor systems are designed to transport items efficiently. They are versatile and found nearly everywhere, including the grocery store, ski lifts, in escalators and in distribution centers. In industrial roles, conveyors move items quickly and efficiently with the help of pullies and motors. The motors used in conveyor systems are electrical so they can be a part of an entire system of moving items.

Palletizers

Efficiency in your business is critical. Pallatizers help make businesses more efficient by automatically stacking goods or products onto a pallet. They can be an independent part of your process or it can be integrated into your entire production process.  The palletizer machine itself uses wheel blocks and motors to do what it does.

Moving heavy loads, whether on the ground or suspended in the air, requires expertise and experience. Nearly anything can be moved with a wheel block and motor. Let us help you move your next project!
