Purpose-Built Wire Rope Hoist for Extreme Environments & Non-Standard Lifting

Extreme environments require a purpose-built hoist to be capable of operating efficiently and effectively despite the aggressive environment or extreme requirements. Many times, standard wire rope hoists won’t fit the job. The Demag DH wire rope hoist has been a trusted, performance lifting partner for many customers for 35 years. Learn more about the purpose built, flexible, and capable DH wire rope hoist and how it can fit into your operations when you need a hoist for an extreme environment.

The Demag DH wire rope hoist was launched to the USA market in 1986. It is a rugged option for lifting in places where moisture, dust, chemicals, or heat may affect other wire rope hoists negatively, or if you need to lift a heavy load in a specific way and standard wire rope hoist won’t do the job. The DH is a tried and true hoist for galvanizing, steel coil processing, die handling in industries like automotive, aircraft and aviation, and in applications when a heavy load needs to be held for an extended period of time. When you need performance in your lifting operations, the DH is flexible and configurable to meet your needs.

Demag DH wire rope hoists are purpose-built for use in extreme environments like galvanizing.

Optimized Lifting for Aggressive, Extreme, and Demanding Environments

When you think about demanding, punishing environments, you think about equipment life and design. Lifting is needed in extreme environments where there are high ambient temperatures, high levels of moisture, high levels of dust and aggressive chemicals. The DH wire rope hoist is designed to operate in these tough, extreme environments.

Standard wire rope hoists use inverters, which are much more sensitive to extreme conditions found in foundries and galvanizing lines. Extreme environments require a purpose-built product. The Demag DH uses contactor control instead of inverter control. Contactor controlled hoists and crane components allow for efficient operation and greater serviceability if a contactor needs replaced.

Extreme environments and electrical components have a storied relationship. Temperature, moisture, and dust are all factors that challenge the functionality of electrical components. The DH wire rope hoist can be outfitted with mechanical conical rotor motors. These conical rotor motors have an integrated, mechanical brake making operation in these environments more efficient. This type of motor eliminates electrical components and is serviceable by your maintenance crew with wrenches and other tools rather than a computer program.

Environments with high heat, like foundries, have non-standard requirements for lifting equipment.

The Solution When Requirements Exceed Normal Applications

As lifting requirements exceed the limits of standard equipment, it’s important to find a solution that meets the needs of your operations. The Demag DH wire rope hoist meets extreme hook path or lift height requirements up to 340 feet. Whether you are using the hoist in a stationery configuration as a winch or for travel on a crane bridge, the range of lift speeds and a greater number of starts and stops can be accommodated by the DH hoist thanks to the co-axial F10 motor. The Co-Axial F10 motor configuration uses the tried and true Demag FG Microspeed configuration. Our FG Microspeed motor configuration combines a conical rotor lifting and creep motor in a tandem mechanical configuration in the drivetrain.

The drum mounted load hold brake can hold a heavy load, commonly found in galvanizing and aircraft or aviation operations. This load hold brake is an optional feature to meet your operation needs. It also functions as an emergency load halt brake to add additional safety when your operations lift very heavy loads.

The Demag DH wire rope hoist is flexible with configurations to meet your unique lifting needs.

Flexible and Configurable to Your Unique Needs

The Demag DH wire rope hoist is flexible to a wide range of unique lifting capabilities. Use a DH hoist in a stationery lifting station or as a towing winch. We see the hoist commonly in travel configurations on single or double girder cranes or on monorail cranes when standard wire rope hoists cannot complete the job effectively. When you need a wire rope hoist that is tough enough to operate in a harsh, severe environment, the DH has the options needed to meet your lifting goals.

The Demag DH hoist can do the heavy lifting up to 100 tons with a 340-foot hook path. Reeving options are important in lifting. The reeving configuration chosen for the job can help mitigate the lifting forces across the hoist and crane. With a wide range of reeving options, the DH has reeving variations to meet your lifting needs. Matched with your lift speed needs and optional hold brake, the DH wire rope hoist is flexible and configurable to meet your exacting lifting needs.

Perfect for Crane Retrofits and Precision Heavy Lifting

Retrofitting your existing crane can be an efficient way to repair or upgrade your existing lifting equipment, but it is also an opportunity to add lifting technology as your operations change. Crane modernizations can be completed with the Demag DH wire rope hoist, especially if your existing crane is lifting heavy loads while performing precise lifting. The DH is available in a foot mounted configuration. This configuration is flexible with the ability to be added to a single girder crane or added to a non-standard gauge double girder crane with a custom trolley.

Adding technology or capabilities to your existing crane is one of the reasons to opt-in to complete a crane retrofit. Crane modernizations can give you very precise positioning and lifting with the DH wire rope hoist. The DH with Co-Axial F10 motor allows for the most precise positioning of loads with the trusted Demag FG Microspeed configuration. The Co-Axial F10 motor is equipped with a mechanical lift motor and mechanical microspeed motor. This eliminates the need for additional electric found in other motor options. They allow for faster lifting and lowering speed and very precise positioning with the microspeed motor. The DH wire rope hoist can be tailored to meet your needs, even if standard motors or variable speed lifting is required.

Extreme environments require performance lifting. The Demag DH wire rope hoist combines performance in extreme, demanding environments with the precise lifting you need. Whether your operations exceed normal requirements based on capacity, environment, or precision, the DH is capable. The hoist is flexible with a wide variety of lifting configurations available for crane retrofits and crane modernizations. It also has options for motor customizations to meet a wide range of environments and lifting operation requirements. When you need performance lifting for heavy loads, see how the Demag DH wire rope hoist can help.
