The Smart Features of the DVR Rope Hoist

The Demag DVR rope hoist meets the demands of economical and ergonomic lifting solutions, and has customizable solutions to fulfill the various requirements of your crane and lifting technologies, from standard to high-end.

To get the most out of your DVR rope hoist, try adding our smart features and attachments that help provide greater safety and control during material handling. Increase your efficiency, up your productivity, and reduce the amount of wear on your machine with smart features. Learn more below.

Take Advantage of Smart Features

There are four DVR model configurations, and smart features can be added to all of them. These rope hoists are flexible and productive but optimized with the use of added technology. Use some of the smart features listed below to enhance the operation of your machine:

  • Demag OWL – Hoist monitoring protects your equipment from overloads while providing you with real-time information about your equipment. This helps indicate when maintenance should be conducted and is indicated with service warnings. In the case of a critical safety accident like an overload or snag, the load will be safely lowered to the ground. Otherwise, hoist monitoring provides key information about your equipment.
  • TD DriveTool App – The TD DriveTool app can be used on a smart device to display the inverter status, electrical values, and operating or fault parameters. This smart device requires an electronic key to establish a connection, and once that is set up, the electronic key can be used for any DMI inverter.
  • Demag DMU – The DMU is a monitoring feature that has a simpler interface but includes the most robust offering of data and features. It encourages overload protection for single hoists and provides a service warning for brake wear. This feature also oversees faults and runtime information so that you can keep an in-depth read on your machine throughout its lifespan.

Benefits of Using Smart Features

Smart features turn your rope hoist into a smart hoist, encouraging faster load cycle times, increasing productivity, and improving safety in your facility. Some smart features available with our DVR rope hoists include:

  • Anti-Sway Control –Helps prevent increased load sway by active counter- motions of the crane. Active system based on rope angle measurement to detect and dampen any existing load sway.
  • Slack Rope Prevention – Continuous monitoring of the rope tension reduces the risk of damage to the load, crane, and surrounding area because the hoist drive automatically switches off when the load has been lowered to its target position or the hook is accidentally snagged.
  • Area-Specific Load Reduction – This safety feature allows users to define areas where the traveling hoist can only enter if the load does not exceed a reference value, which reduces the load on the runway and building structure when more than one crane is operating on it.
  • Bypass Control – Users can specify areas where the traveling hoist is blocked from, which makes it possible to bypass high parts of machinery or zones that are out of bounds.
  • Tandem Control – This allows you to use a single hoist to safely transport loads via two DVR rope hoists.

More safety features are offered through the DMC modular control:

  • Follow Me – This feature is recommended for cranes up to 10 t, where the crane can be moved above the load by simply guiding the hook by hand.
  • Hook Centering – Allows you to position the crane hook directly over the load for faster load cycle times.
  • Smart Tandem Control – You can synchronize two cranes with up to four rope hoists via this feature for added convenience and productivity.
