Eliminating Error 950 When Upgrading from the Demag DRC10 Radio System to the DRC10D3 System

When you upgrade a Demag DRC10 radio system with the DRC10D3 system, you’ll find that you get a 950 error code on the screen. In this post, we will go through the basics of the DRC remote and what causes this error and how you can fix it.

The Demag DRC-D3 radio remote system allows for ergonomic operation and ensures the operator can always maintain a safe distance from the load. Built to handle the impacts of day-to-day work, the battery charges in 2.5 hours for up to 5 days of operation. When used with Demag variable speed hoists, the transmitters offer fine control and limitations of maximum speeds. Its large, two-color LC display communicates status and warnings, in addition to the LED indicator. Safe and reliable operation can be optimized using the silicone protective sleeve and wall bracket.

When it’s time to update your radio system on an existing Demag crane or hoist from the Demag DRC10 to the DRC10D3, the first thing you’ll notice with the DRC10D3 system installed is the 950 error that appears in the display of the radio. This error comes up due to the software differences between the old hoist and crane controls and the new radio. The 950 error can easily be eliminated following some simple reprogramming steps. Accessing the programming menu and changing a parameter, using the handheld remote, gets you through this step and back on track.

First actuate and hold down the stop key. While holding down the stop button, actuate the lower key once and release. Next, actuate the right button twice, releasing the button each time. Actuate the lower button and continue to hold Lower and Stop together for 5 seconds. This will open the program menu to parameter 001. To move to the other parameters, use the Left button. Scroll to parameter 014 to see the current setting, displayed in the window. Press F1 to select parameter 014 for editing and change the parameter value to 000 by using the left and right keys. Next, press F2 to lock in the new parameter. To return the remote to normal operation, press Lift once. After following these steps, error 950 should no longer show.

Upgrading your radio system is necessary for continued functionality of your crane or hoist. Upgrading from the Demag DRC10 to the DRC10D3 system allows for safe, reliable operation for your crane and hoist operators. Knowing how to clear the 950 error code upon installation will allow you to be back up and running quickly.
