Lifting Loads Differently | The Demag Manulift Chain Hoist

Eliminating manual lifting from key processes can make the work environment more ergonomic. OSHA lists many risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) at work, including lifting heavy items, bending, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling heavy loads. Lifting devices like air or electric balancers and chain hoists can help eliminate manual lifting processes, especially in fast paced operations. Demag developed the Manulift concept more than 40 years ago to provide a unique solution in place of the traditional chain hoist. It eliminates the need for a separate pendant or radio for the chain hoist. With controls on the body above the hook, this configuration gives customers in the automotive, assembly and aerospace industries additional flexibility for handling materials.

The Demag Manulift chain hoist puts the hoist control, literally, into the hand of the operator.

Innovative Design

The Demag Manulift broke the design rules for controls on a chain hoist. When you look at electric chain hoists that are available on the market, many are controlled with a pendant or radio control. The Manulift eliminated the need for the pendant or radio and put the control, literally, in the operator’s hand near the load. With the hand positioned near the hook or gripper, the operator can precisely position a load or quickly handle the load in fast paced environments. It’s innovative, ambidextrous handle eliminates the need for a separate pendant or radio for the chain hoist. The handle allows the operator to control the hoist with a rocker switch using the thumb. The Manulift is a member of the Demag DC Chain Hoist product family. This trusted product has served customers reliably in many industries.

Trusted and reliable, the Demag DC chain hoist product family includes the Manulift.

Part of the Reliable DC Chain Hoist Product Family

As part of the DC product family, the Manulift is available with 2 speed or stepless variable speed to meet your lifting needs up to 1,100 lbs. If you have a DCMS-Pro Manulift, or DC chain hoist with stepless variable speed, you are experienced with how our stepless variable speed works. With stepless variable speed, the harder you push the button, the quicker the lifting or lowering speed becomes, with a maximum speed of up to 100 ft/min. It can also move slowly, as slow as .5 ft/min, for precise operations.

The Demag Manulift was designed to make switching out grippers and hooks easy, which can be absolutely necessary in assembly operations. The quick release coupling releases the gripper, hook, or end effector with ease. Simply push up on the plate to release so operators can switch with ease. The Manulift, and DC chain hoist line, can interface with many different types of grippers and load handling devices. They come with a standard Demag hook. When custom grippers and end effectors need to be connected, there is a pin that can accommodate a wide variety of designs. Your Demag representative can help you determine how to best interface with your custom gripper or end effector to meet your application needs.

The Manulift can be controlled by the operator’s right or left hand!

Lift Loads Ergonomically

When you eliminate manual lifting from your processes, the lifting process becomes more ergonomic. Chain hoists take the weight burden off of the operator. It can eliminate awkward body positions and lifting repetitive loads. The Manulift’s control handle allow operators to pick up the load using one hand to control the rocker switch and the other to guide the load. It is an ideal lifting device for handling loads within the operator’s reach, meaning they can easily reach the handle with the load attached to the hook or gripper.

The Manulift’s innovative handle allows operators to use their right or left hand to handle the load. The rocker switch on the handle makes lifting and lowering a load easy. If you choose the DCMS-Pro with stepless variable speed, operators can intuitively lift or lower the load as quickly or slowly and precisely as needed by pressing the rocker switch harder or softer.

When you are looking for ways to eliminate manual lifting in your processes, the Demag Manulift can help. Its innovative handle is flexible for both right and lefthanded operators and is available with options to make load handling precise. As part of the reliable DC chain hoist family, the Manulift is built on a trusted, quality product platform to make lifting processes more ergonomic.
